bondi beach

I spent three days in Bondi Beach and fell in love

Ever since I first laid eyes on beautiful Bondi Beach, I’ve wanted to live there. Now that I only have one month left in Sydney before I head out traveling again, I made the move to Wake Up! Bondi Beach.

Located among surf shops and cute cafes, Wake Up! Bondi Beach is the only hostel to be located directly across the beach. I can watch the sunrise over Bondi from the rooftop of my own home.

From morning workouts, swimming and tanning at the beach, and evenings filled with games and movie nights, Bondi Beach is one of my favourite places in Sydney. To make the most out of your time in Bondi, here is a three day itinerary to live the beach life to its fullest!

Day One: Friday

Every Friday at 9am, Wake Up! Bondi Beach has a kickass personal training session by the beach with a certified personal trainer. I haven’t felt so winded in months.

After your sweat sesh, throw on some factor 50 and a swimsuit and head to Bondi Icebergs! For only $8, you can swim at the arguably most instagrammable ocean pool in Australia.

“Chuck some shrimp on the barbie,” or just head to Wake Up! Bondi Beach’s Aussie BBQ for some steak, sausages, and sides.

Play a round of beer pong, enjoy some goon, and meet fellow hostel guests. And if you’re still feeling it, head down to Hotel Bondi for a free drink with your new friends.

Day Two: Saturday

Any trip to Sydney wouldn’t be complete without the Bondi to Coogee walk. Spanning about 6km and taking anywhere from 1.5-3 hours to complete, this coastal walk takes you through a long list of beaches. They cover beaches from Bronte to Clovelly and Tamarama. I highly recommend wearing a swimsuit so you can take a few dips in all of the beaches to cool down.

If you want to turn this walk into a workout, check out the outdoor gyms along the route. Though I haven’t done the full workout yet, there are instructions at each of the gyms to complete the workout as you walk. Don’t forget your water bottle!

Grab a well-deserved artisan coffee and relax after your long walk and workout.

Movie night! The movie hard drive at Wake Up! Bondi Beach is better than Netflix, but they have Netflix, too! Pile some pillows on the floor and bring your duvet for a cozy evening in the upstairs common area.

Day Three: Sunday

Devour as many fluffy, free pancakes at Wake Up! Bondi Beach as you possibly can! Once you’ve filled up, grab your beach bag and a hire a free surfboard from reception.

Bondi Public School hosts Bondi Markets every Sunday just a few blocks away from the hostel. Out of the many markets I visited in Sydney, Bondi is one of my favorites for eclectic booths. There’s savory and sweet street foods, handmade clothing, unique jewelry, and everything in between.

I discovered a vendor that prints gorgeous pictures of famous Australian beaches on towels and tote bags. Following my 4-taco meal, I bought a Bondi Beach tote bag and Whitehaven Beach towel to remember my two favorite beaches in Australia.

In just my first week at Wake Up! Bondi Beach, I learned how to play Blackjack, Slam, and learned a new version of the game cheat. Head to the reception area with a deck of cards and within minutes, you’ll have a room full of backpackers ready to learn new games and spend the night playing.

With that in mind…

I’m lucky enough to live in Bondi for four weeks of my Sydney experience, I only wish I had moved here earlier! The laid-back vibe, beautiful scenery, naturally sweet coffee, and happy hostel make Bondi one of my favorite places in Australia. If you only have three days, this itinerary guarantees you’ll see the highlights without missing out on the true blue beauty of Bondi.
